Woofland's Story
At the heart of Woofland’s story is a couple, their dog Hapu, and a simple question: why does good dog care have to feel so restrictive?

When planning an overseas trip, they struggled to find a place that truly suited Hapu. Most kennels and dog hotels, whether basic or premium, followed the same model. Long hours alone, confined to cages or small suites, with limited human interaction. Even the best options often left dogs isolated for much of the day and night.

That experience sparked the idea behind Woofland. A place designed differently, where dogs are cared for in purpose-built spaces, supported by routine, supervision, and meaningful human presence. Not just somewhere to stay, but an environment where dogs feel comfortable, settled, and understood.

Aware of how deeply this affected their own dog, the couple explored other options. Home-based care felt warmer and more flexible, but it often lacked consistency, structure, and long-term commitment. Standards varied, supervision was limited, and reliability depended heavily on the individual rather than a system. That contrast revealed a clear gap. There was no place that combined the warmth and presence of a home with the professionalism, accountability, and purpose-built design of a dedicated dog care facility.

That realisation shaped Woofland. Built as a committed business with a strong operational backbone, but guided by a home-like philosophy, Woofland was created to offer dogs space, routine, supervision, and meaningful human interaction. Purpose-built environments replaced cages, calm routines replaced isolation, and dogs were treated as individuals rather than units to manage. From its beginnings, Woofland has been driven by one belief: dogs deserve care that respects their emotional needs as much as their physical ones, in a place where they can feel safe, settled, and truly themselves.
Meet Ryan:
Our Animal Health Expert
and Founder
Meet the driving force behind Woofland, Orhan, known to many as Ryan. With a veterinary degree and over five years of experience in New Zealand’s animal health industry, Ryan brings a strong foundation of knowledge and hands-on understanding to everything Woofland does. While he is not a registered veterinarian in New Zealand, his approach is shaped by professional training, practical experience, and a deep respect for dogs’ physical and emotional needs.

Ryan’s connection to dogs goes far beyond work. He has shared his life with dogs since childhood, including caring for a much-loved companion who lived beyond 20 years and now resides overseas with his mother. Growing up on lifestyle farms and later building more than two decades of business experience, Ryan combines animal-care insight with structure, accountability, and long-term commitment. Woofland reflects that balance. A place built with purpose, guided by care, and grounded in the belief that dogs deserve environments where they feel safe, understood, and free to be dogs.
